Business Development Manager

About the role

The Business Development Manager plays a pivotal role in driving sales growth throughout Jigsaw24 by identifying, nurturing, and closing sales opportunities, with a strong focus on maximising average order value and promoting the sale of our entire portfolio. This position requires a commercially astute individual who possesses a deep understanding of sales stakeholder engagement, strategic sales pipeline development, and portfolio-based selling. In addition, the role involves strategically identifying customers who have demonstrated significant engagement with us so they can be transitioned to a dedicated Account Manager.

Key duties and responsibilities are:

• Sales Opportunity Management:

  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities, leveraging market intelligence and existing networks to build a robust sales pipeline.
  • Lead the end-to-end sales process, including prospecting, qualification, solution proposal, negotiation, and deal closure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to tailor propositions and leverage company resources to optimise sales outcomes.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of prospective deals, providing accurate forecasting and timely feedback to senior leadership.

• Maximising Average Order Value (AOV):

  • Use consultative selling techniques (Sandler, Challenger sales models) to uncover customer needs and demonstrate the value of complementary products and services, thereby increasing average order value.
  • Analyse customer profiles, historical purchasing patterns, and market trends to strategically upsell and cross-sell suited offerings.
  • Continuously review and refine sales approaches to ensure alignment with evolving business objectives and customer requirements.

• Whole Portfolio Sales:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the entire company portfolio, including products, services, and solutions across all categories.
  • Educate prospects and existing customers on the breadth of offerings, positioning the organisation as a one-stop technology partner for all their needs.
  • Build and present compelling multi-category proposals that demonstrate the integrated value proposition of the whole portfolio.
  • Champion portfolio sales through active participation in campaigns, events, and customer workshops.

• Relationship Building:

  • Establish and nurture strong, trust-based relationships with key decision makers and influencers at prospective and existing accounts.
  • Conduct regular white space reviews to uncover further opportunities and reinforce customer loyalty to identify further sales opportunities.
  • Represent the company with professionalism and integrity at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.

• Market and Competitor Intelligence:

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activity to inform sales strategies and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Provide insight on opportunities for portfolio expansion or new product development based on customer feedback and market analysis.

• Reporting and Analytics:

  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, opportunities, and outcomes using the company’s CRM system.
  • Prepare periodic reports for management on sales performance, pipeline health, and customer segmentation.
  • Use data-driven approaches to refine targeting strategies and improve conversion rates.

Education, Skills & Experience

  • Proven track record in business development, sales, or account management, ideally within a multi-category or portfolio-based environment.
  • Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in interpreting sales data, customer engagement metrics, and market trends.
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously, with a disciplined approach to prioritisation and time management.
  • Proficiency in CRM and sales enablement tools to track and manage opportunities effectively.
  • Commercial acumen and a consultative approach to solution selling.
  • Self-motivated and driven to exceed targets, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
